Since 2004, Boroondara Osteopathy has been serving local community of Doncaster and the surrounding suburbs. To help us create a plan that is individualised to you, we look at the reasons that underpin your complaint. Using this strategy helps us to not only treat the symptoms but manage your pain long-term. Osteopaths are trained to care for a variety of complaints, ranging from sprained ankles to spinal injuries, to headaches. If you think osteopathic care might be for, our osteopaths will have you covered.
Osteopaths are university educated healthcare practitioners that can address a wide variety of complaints. They are taught how to use both hands-on skills and skills in education and rehabilitation to help you manage your pain from home. We can use these skills to help you whether it’s a sprain or strain, or something more complex that has been around for a long time.
At Boroondara Osteopathy, we also want to look at how we can keep you going tomorrow! This means understanding how the body is functioning now, and what we can change to make sure you are able to keep doing everything you love without needing to see us all the time (although we do hope you visit every now and then!)
Here we explore the focal points of your pain to create less tension, less stress, and less pain in your tissues. Our experienced manual therapy aims to recreate balance within the body’s muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, and discs. Re-aligning the body seeks to release tension and pain, creating ease throughout our tissues.
Craniosacral therapy is becoming more well-known throughout the community. Our clientele that seek out this approach are often suffering from problems that have not responded to other common therapies. Problems such as sinus trouble, headaches & migraine, jaw issues, even feeling anxious and cannot find a way to settle their brain. Craniosacral therapy is dependent on sensitive hands of the practitioners to discover imbalanced movement through the skull bones. Yes the skull bones are not fused and actually have a rhythmic movement. Check out more about our craniosacral approach by clicking the heading above.
Tongue tie can be such an issue when you are a baby, trying to feed, get good suction at the breast or bottle but it can also be an issue that becomes more prominent to parents as a child grows. Common childhood symptoms have been listed over on our tongue tie page and may include slow eating, mumbling or difficulty with speech, and mouth breathing/snoring. Our Osteopaths have extra training in tongue tie assessments and work closely with a reputable dentist for a wholistic approach to resolving the issues.
It’s no secret that we can expect changes to occur to our bodies throughout pregnancy, and these changes often happen rapidly and uncontrollably. The incredible ability of our bodies to accommodate for baby can sometimes lead to the compensation of our joints and muscles becoming tight and stiff, but don’t be fooled – you don’t need to feel like this is normal! Our Osteopaths are experienced in working with women during pregnancy with the aim of easing areas that may be holding tension and causing you discomfort. Treatment is tailored to your unique pregnancy journey, working with you to find positions that are most comfortable, as well as offering extra comfort with our specialised pregnancy pillows.
Babies can have experiences that upset their system just like children and adults, except they obviously cannot tell you what the problem is. That’s where our Osteopaths can explore babies body looking for the imbalances that may be the cause to upsetting their system. This can include unwinding muscle tissue that may have stayed contracted from utero, assessing joints for movements that are not easily done, and even cranial work to assess baby’s skull bones given that birth trauma can impact the skull and neck. If you are trying to work out what is happening with your lovely baby, our plan is to get to the bottom of the issue.
Have you heard of compensation pattern? Did you know that compensation patterns create imbalances in muscle and joint tissue that will keep being irritated if we don’t remove the compensation? Anatomy in Motion is a true whole body approach to how one structure is impacting another. Only we are very interested in where it all started in your history. Many clients are surprised how far back we go to find the answers, even into childhood injuries to see if your compensation pattern was from way back when. This approach is strongly movement based but being Osteopaths we are often loosening and freeing up old tissue injuries so we can restore you body balance once again.
There is very little good information around about mastitis and our plan has always been to change that. Yes you can massage mastitis in better ways and that’s what we teach and why. It is different massage to a blocked duct because they are different problems (even if your mastitis began with a blocked cut). With our approach you will learn about your breast anatomy and how you can improve your breast health. Our treatment will focus on overall breast health and often includes ultrasound to assist in move lumps and blockages.
