Boroondara Osteopathy is a well-established clinic that has been serving members of the Boroondara community since 2004. At Boroondara Osteopathy we make it a goal to understand the reason behind your issue. In doing so, we want to make long-lasting changes to your body so that your quality of life continues to improve. Our osteopaths can provide care for a variety of complaints ranging from sports and spinal injuries to headaches, or long-term conditions such as arthritis. If you’ve been looking for healthcare that considers your personal story and goals, our osteopaths at Boroondara Osteopathy are here for you.
Our Osteopaths have been doing this job for years, collectively over 30 years. Our dedicated group provides excellent physical treatment & prevention strategies, as well as a diagnosis in plain English for your particular problem, so you understand. We have worked with thousands of people just like you to restore and rebalance their body whether it be muscular or joint related problems, ligament, tendon or disc. Being in such close proximity to Kew, Boroondara Osteopathy is a local clinic you can rely on for wholistic care.
This gets to the nitty-gritty focus points of your pain to release and relieve tissues of stress and tension. Our experienced hands-on body work for muscles, tendons, ligaments, discs and joints means we can work on whatever the issue is. All aimed at re-balancing the body to feel less tension and less pain.
This unique type of therapy known as craniosacral therapy, provides another avenue to work through a body issue. Those seeking it out tend to have experiences of headache, jaw problems, anxiety or stress, or just a weird feeling of “not quite right”. Craniosacral therapy however also includes the sacrum as the name implies which is the lower spinal bone between the 2 sides of your pelvis. So quite often working through th sacrum can have an impact on other issues that a related to the pelvis and lower limb, which may include birth-related traumas.
Yes tongue tie can be an issue with babies. Yes it is commonly poorly assessed. We look at the whole picture and get a good history of the challenges that indicate a potential problem. With babies this may include falling asleep at the breast, lip blisters, difficulty latching and many other aspects. Our Osteopaths will look also for lip ties when assessing for a tongue tie.
In children and adults this assessment can also be performed. Children with a tongue can be really slow eaters, have speech troubles, not like certain food textures (ie. meat). In adults chronic neck pain and headaches may result from a tongue tie and having it released has provided relief in these cases (but no we do not do the release, we refer you to Myofocus or The Dental Suites for further assessment & management.)
Ok so there’s some women that just breeze through pregnancy. But what about for those of you who do not? There is help available so don’t worry! Pregnancy often amplifies imbalances that had been an issue prior to pregnancy but can also stir up pelvis and hip pain due the body’s changes with pregnancy. If you want a genuine assessment of the pelvis and spinal balance in your body, and someone to work out how to not only improve your situation but work at strategies to help you through the day-to-day, our Osteopaths are here to provide you with pregnancy care. We often treat women face down on special belly pillows, but can also work in other positions that are most comfortable for you!
Why on earth would a baby need Osteopathy? Well there’s actually some rationale behind it. Consider the position a baby may have been engaged in your pelvis, and for what length of time. There are also considerable forces and challenges in birthing that may affect baby’s unravelling. The baby unravelling is simply lovely to see, as they open up from their crowded in existence in the womb. Common reasons we see babies in clinic is a head-turning preference, unsettled behaviour, difficulties positioning baby at the breast, and even as a “check-in” to work on balancing baby from the birth no may how they entered this world.
Compensation patterns occur in everyone. Adaptive postures are created throughout our lives. Posture is often thought of as a choice, bad posture being laziness of the owner of the body. Well what if we explained to you how your body ended up in the adaptive and compensated space it has. That could look like a head tilting to one side, a slouched upper back, one shoulder sitting lower, a hip turned out more than another, a knee jammed back, a foot turned in, bow legs, knock knees and the list goes on. Anatomy in Motion is our model of deciphering your history of trauma & injury and piecing together a timeline as to where things in your body started to “go wrong”. Then providing you new ways to overcome those issues.
Yes! We treat breastfeeding women for mastitis! WHY? Because it’s a part of women’s healthcare poorly managed and we have a way to not only treat breastfeeding issues such as mastitis, but to educate women so they stop fearing the problem, and instead are knowledgeable and empowered to treat themselves. We use therapeutic ultrasound and hands-on therapy AND a solid education in breast tissue & function to get you past this!

Headaches and upper back pain are common pains women experience from breast-feeding. Osteopaths can provide you with preventative measures to reduce the impact of these pains, whilst teaching you strategies to manage new activities required to care for an infant.
Sports injuries are another common problem that occurs for Kew residents. With many local sports facilities it is great to see so many Kew residents enjoying indoor and outdoor sports. Physiotherapy or Osteopathy?
Kew physiotherapy is another choice for treatment of aches and pains, however Boroondara Osteopathy has been a provider to the local Kew community for many years. Our osteopaths have experience in treating conditions that many Kew residents would seek treatment for at a Kew physiotherapy clinic. Many physiotherapist do not provide actual physical treatment, and instead rely on machines and exercise to accomplish their goals. Osteopathy is vastly different to physiotherapy in this way, our Osteopaths always provide the required physical therapy to manipulate your body’s imbalances and get you back-on-track. A post-treatment management plan is also encouraged to keep you pain-free.
